Editorial Policies

  1. Peer Review Process: The journal Análisis Geográficos employs a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout all stages of the review. Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial review is sent to at least two external reviewers with academic training in the article’s subject area; this initial review verifies compliance with basic requirements.

Each reviewer provides independent assessments of the submitted manuscript’s relevance, methodological quality, originality, and contribution to the field of geography and related sciences. Possible decisions are: “accepted,” “accepted but requires revisions,” “not accepted,” “the article is not suitable for this journal.” Two positive reviews are required; if the manuscript is not accepted by one of the peer reviewers, the Editorial Board may request a third review.

Based on these reports, the Editorial Board decides whether to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript. The journal may seek additional reviews when there are conflicting opinions or when greater technical clarity is required.

All parties involved in the process adhere to the principles of ethics, impartiality, and confidentiality inherent to scientific publication.

  1. Open Access Policy: The journal Análisis Geográficos offers open access to all its content to ensure the free circulation of knowledge and to facilitate the use, consultation, and dissemination of scientific output without economic, technical, or legal restrictions. 1. Publication Costs: The journal does not charge readers for accessing published articles or authors for publishing their work. The journal is funded by the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi.
  1. The journal publishes its content under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license, under which the material may be accessed and shared provided that authorship is acknowledged, for non-commercial purposes, and without modifications. The authors declare that their work is original, unpublished, and that they assume full responsibility for its content.
